New CD Review of "Zoograss" in the April/May Relix Magazine:

“If you dig the music of the Avett Brothers, Yonder Mountain String Band and the Grateful Dead then you owe it to yourself to check out New England roots string band Hot Day at the Zoo. The outfit’s third album, the superb “Zoograss,” was recorded live at the Waterhole in Saranac, N.Y., last September and finds HDATZ in peak form. From the opening notes of “Boston Blues” straight through to the closing strains of “Old Mill,” Michael Dion, Jed Rosen, JT Lawrence and Jon Cumming are totally in the zone. Incorporating plenty of high-energy tunes from both their 2005 debut “Cool as Tuesday” and 2008’s stellar EP “Long Way Home,” as well as some new material, this is a record that will appeal to the band’s fans and serves as a great introduction for those as yet unfamiliar with Hot Day at the Zoo. Among the many keepers on this 14-track, 77-minute opus are “Mercy of the Sea,” “Blues for Jimmy,” “Devil Woman” and “Morning Light” — though “Zoograss” '69s one of those rare albums in which there aren’t any misfires. So sit back and enjoy.” The Daily News 3/10
